This inspires me.. :) I know art has become necessary to me - especially writing. Since I am trying to keep a journal everyday (on paper, tho gods know I write enough in this one too *g*) I find that the more I write, the more I need to write. The more I seem to find my style, to find a way to get my feelings and experiences to flow onto paper. Though my painting becomes a form of this too - and my languages. My mum was given French magnetic poetry for Xmas and I have been having fun composing strange and cryptic (and hopefully grammatically correct) poems in French. I guess I hope that when I am reunited with my guitar in Chch, it can become a similar outlet too. Hmm.. :) Although all this does mean that I tend to sit around on my ass thinking and writing. Occasionally baking. Mostly just lost in thought, lost in dreams. But not really lost, no, actually I think I'm always finding parts of myself, aren't I?

From Letters to a Young Poet (this from letter #1, 17 February 1903) In German and English. At least, I hope I found the right German passage, I really don't know any German. ^^ I am too in love with Rilke, hehe ;)
Go into yourself. Find out the reason that commands you to write; see whether it has spread its roots into the very depths of your heart; confess to yourself whether you would have to die if you were forbidden to write. )

I only just discovered this amazing poet, Federico García Lorca, and I fell in love. He has some amazing poetry.. but I especially like his ghazals (gacelas). And of course, I had to find the Spanish version too :) More of his poetry here (en español - apparently it's more difficult to find him in English)

Gacela De La Muerte Oscura
No quiero que me repitan que los muertos no pierden la sangre;
un rato, un minuto, un siglo;
pero que todos sepan que no he muerto;
que haya un establo de oro en mis labios;
que soy un pequeño amigo del viento Oeste;
para aprender un llanto que me limpie de tierra;
